16 October.

My darling, my beloved Yvette, I think and think and think about you. I think only about you, I feel only you.

[Six lines as before, You are with me everywhere, awake, asleep, behind every tree etc]

on the summit of each mountain, in the thick daytime smoke and the red night time flames of old Vesuvius.  I run after you but I can never catch you. You call me though. You smile at me. You cherish me. You want me as much as I want you.

And it is war that separates us…[darling darling when we will we be together again, body, soul spirit etc etc]

OK. I wait for you darling. My love is stronger than time.

Write to me, darling. Three times the mail has arrived and brought no letters from you. I embrace you with all my tenderness – has it flown to you then?

Yvette, my little one,

Your

Henri

Have you received all my letters? Are they numerous? This is at least my 10th letter, since I have been here.
