“B”Platoon

In two days everything has changed, darling: I have met up with my platoon, my friends and acquaintances, my vehicle and work. everything. Except one thing. That has not changed and will not change. I knew it and I know it. It is my love for you. It is my languishing for you. […] It is late. I am still all dirty from work.  I write to you as I am because tomorrow I am making a journey that will take 7-8 days. There and back. So don’t be anxious if you have no news of me for a week.

You well know that I don’t go alone. […] You will be sitting beside me, and I will again try to tell you everything in my heart which is so full, so full, Yvette, of you.

I embrace you tenderly

Your Henri

I still have not had any letters from you. When I return will I have five, six? I am sure of it and my joy is immense.
