[Marked 22 by Amirah but 21 in the sequence of translations.]

7 –XII- 1942

Dear little one,

Just a few words. At last I am in the quarters. Exactly in the same place I was when I came to see you in Cairo and where we spent such a lovely day. I want to tell you how moved I am. I can only think about our approaching meeting, darling, I have already received the authorisation from my C.O. for our marriage. Now there is nothing more than a simple question matter of formality which will I hope will quickly be arranged. I want to tell you again that I love you so much that I have become quite mad. It seems certain to me that I am not able to live for long far from you without losing my reason. This is not bunkum adorable little Yvette. I miss you terribly. I jumped for joy when I learnt of my departure from Palestine. I straightaway let you know of this good news (isn’t it good?) and I sent you a mad letter. Roughly speaking there are several letters for you on the way. But the most joyful thing is that I am on the way to hold you tightly against my heart, so filled with you, my redhead.

When, my God. When? Believe me that I will do the impossible. (????)

I love you, I love you. My dear little darling! Yvette!

Kisses,

Henri
