I have not much time. In a half an hour I must be ready for work. So excuse me darling for writing so little. I simply want to acquaint you with two things.
First of all, I was agreeably surprised the day before yesterday to see Paul again. No need to tell you with what avidity I began to talk to him of you little one. I understand that he had to tell you a heap of things, of stupidities also, without doubt. If he spoke to you of my love for you well don’t believe him, it is not true. Because I love you so much more than that and there is no one who could speak of it. I hung on his lips until he told all, absolutely every little detail of your meeting. As he is a good boy and a good friend, he allowed himself to do it and spent several bad hours unable to liberate himself from my curiosity.
My darling little Yvette. The most eloquent, the most understanding man would not know how to transform into words my love for you.
Secondly I want to tell you darling that as for the holidays I am entirely at your disposition. That is to say I find myself on the list of those who will leave on 27th October. But I can easily move my holidays on to the 8 November. From what Paul told me that it would be better for you (which is to say also for me) to leave on the 8 November because you would gain three days. So write to me very quickly what you decide so that I can fit in with your arrangements. Three days more together with you, it is too much darling!
It would be necessary to arrange also the way, before we find ourselves suddenly on the first day in Cairo, to find the place or the part of the country that you would like most to spend your holidays.
I am being called. Excuse me, I finish. But no one can prevent me from telling you again that I love you, Yvette, I love you until tears.
Write
Your Henry
After tomorrow I will write you much more, darling. Paul greets you; he will write also.
