Letter 1944.6 – 10 February

Henri (650 Gen Tpt Coy) to Yvette.

650 Gen Tpt Coy

10 February.

Dangerous work he did is over.  Yvette is now out of the army with Ouri.  I wish you so much happiness.  Difficult to adjust to civilian life after the army. A day before his last departure received her first letter from Tel Aviv.

“In the middle of danger, when the air was torn with howls, when the sky was filled with the grey and red stains of murderous explosions, when the world was filled with infernal din and the earth, the good earth that the soldiers’ arms embraced with all their strength, began to groan and tremble under the blows of iron and steel –“ (then you were with me in your new life)

It’s the first time for a long time that I was afraid.  I feared for you. I mustn’t die, I must live for you.”

I am preoccupied with getting you money. What exactly is your financial situation? Must you so soon find work? How must I send money. Registered? Mme Adler o your maiden name??
