Letter 1947.71 – 26 September

Yvette to Henri.

Paris 26 September

I received this morning your 4th letter my good darling. Write more often, little one; it does my heart good. […] I believe you must say to yourself that it is indispensable that you pas that exam on 3rd of October. That way you will have a date before you. And then I will see you in six days. Now it’s only a matter of days, oh darling!

On the apartment: I still know nothing for sure about the Champ de Mars apartment; I will see it on Monday (29th). As for that of Buttes Chaumont I have to wait a bit longer. But now that your arrival is so close I arms myself with the philosophy: “If there’s an apartment it will be good; if there isn’t, it will be good too!” That’s how I feel. Do you agree?  As you say, we won’t sleep under the bridges. But Zouzou?  Anyway, why worry! We’ll have something. I am going this evening to Marcoussis, my darling to spend Saturday and Sunday there. And we will be talking about you. I have received a long and nice letter from Helene who tells me she had received “an excellent letter from Henry”. I begin to be curious about this correspondence. I am pleased, darling that at last things are being sorted out between you. Today it is grey and foggy, a day for lovers to walk slowly, gently in the empty paths of the gardens. I love this weather. It’s terrible. Come quickly, my love. […]

Your Yvette.
