Letter 1947.68 – 23 September

Yvette to Henri.

23rd September. Paris

I wrote you a long letter this morning, my love, filled with practical matters. And this evening I am thinking only of you and my heart. Nothing practical. I am alone this evening, at Aline’’ house and I am going to put on some discs.  And here I am straight away with you, close to you. I put on first the 5th Symphony of Beethoven. I am listening to it at this moment. [Tender love mixed with music; distance; soul]

In 5 days it will be October, and a few days later I will wait for you and I will no longer feel the minutes; soon my arms will hold you, my eyes will see you, I will touch you with my hands and will hear you say: Good morning darling”. And I will see the smile on your lips and in your eyes. There will be no more days without your face.  And there will be no more nights without feeling the sweet warmth of our bodies in repose and in joy. How could we have survived so many years cut off from each other? We are living now darling. I feel life coursing though me.

Goodnight my love, my little one that I love. Goodnight darling. See you soon!

Your wife.
