Henri to Yvette.
17 September
My sweet darling,
I did warn you and told you that I would write little. It is because that I knew very well what state I would find myself in after you left. What do you want me to say to you, my little one, my darling, my good, sweet Yvette? Yes, tell me Bouboule, what can I say?
Since you left everything around me is empty. Inside me are so many things, so much love and pining alive, sad and joyous at the same time. I love you darling. I love you and I want to live with you, embrace you, caress you, coax you, tease you and talk with you. Oh little wife, so much loved! My arrival in Paris and you waiting for me, that is the whole sense of my life at the present. I will come soon and I will tell you all about it while caressing you with my lips and touching your belly embellished by our love.
Don’t tire yourself too much searching for an apartment. Together we will perhaps do better. I know that you are brave and enterprising etc and that you are spending only to arrange this matter. But after all, don’t forget, Yvette, that there is a baby that must be born.
I have arranged with my brother to send you another 100,000 francs. You will have it for sure the day after tomorrow. For the rest, I have noted everything: sugar, tea, milk etc.
I have had a lovely letter from Helene. Thank you for everything you have done, darling, you are good. I would have so much wanted her to like me a little. Perhaps one day- I will reply one of these days! – For the moment I am too sentimental. She is becoming accustomed to the idea of us, of seeing the two of us together. I hope with all my heart that one day it will no longer be a matter of accustoming for her, but a pleasure. That will certainly add to our happiness, wont it darling?
Since you are in Paris I can well ask you to say hello to Jacqueline and to pass on to her a little at least of all the friendship I have for her.
Goodbye by little one. I will see you very soon. I embrace you tenderly, lovingly.
Henri
